William Fichtner's Ninja Turtle Role
I'm sure a lot of people got excited when news of a Ninja Turtles broke out. Then came the disappointment of Michael Bay's involvement in the film as producer. Then the even deeper disappointment of Bay saying the Turtles would be from an "alien race". Followed by the announcement of Megan Fox being cast as April O'Neil which received a mixed (but mostly negative) response from fans. It was safe to say this reboot seemed doomed to fail. However, a little glimpse of hope came when Will Arnett was cast, then William Fichtner a little while later. After a little fan discussion of what character Fichtner would possibly play, his Ninja Turtle role has been announced as...
The Shredder!
The Turtles' greatest enemy will be played by Fichtner, most known for his roles in Armageddon, Black Hawk Down, Drive Angry and his cameo in the Dark Knight. Now he is to put his talents to the most iconic Turtles character other than the turtles themselves.
Fichtner officially reported the news in an interview with Huffington Post Canada, promoting his new NBC series Crossing Lines: “I play Shredder. It is cool. It’s one of those things that came along where I thought, ‘Really? Let me think about this for a minute.’ [Laughs] Then I was like, ‘Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.’ I’m very glad that it worked out, I’m really glad that I’m doing it.”
I always find his presence in any film just makes them better. We'll see appearances from him later this year in The Lone Ranger and Elysium. Finally a little good news from Jonathan Liebesman's Ninja Turtles reboot.
